Odessa police arrest suspect in Bealls burglary investigation

Police found and charged a suspect early Wednesday morning after catching him burglarizing a department store.

Officers were called about an alarm around 1:14 a.m. Wednesday at Bealls, 1623 N. County Rd. West, an Odessa Police Department news release stated.

Upon arrival, officers saw a maroon Chevrolet Tahoe parked in front of the store and saw broken glass on the front entry door and a man inside the store, the release detailed.

Police found the suspect, 31-year-old Cruz Tarin, had been trying on clothes in the store, the release stated. He was reportedly wearing a pair of jeans, which still had a sales tag belonging to Bealls retail store.

Tarin was charged with burglary of a building, a state jail felony.

This is the fifth burglary charge Tarin has had levied against him. Last November, Tarin was charged with committing several burglaries at Tejas Sporting Goods, 421 E. Eighth St., Advance Paint center, 801 N. Texas Ave., Davita Dialysis, 800 N. Texas Ave., and a building at 711 E. Eighth St.

Jail records show Tarin was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Thursday and has a $15,000 bond.
