Man charged with threatening wife, infant with gun

Odessa police arrested a man Friday, charging him with threatening his common-law wife with a gun and a placing the gun to his four-month-old daughter’s temple and threatening to kill her.

An Odessa police release states Jeremiah Villanueva Jurado, 30, was arrested Friday and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony, and endangering a child, a state jail felony.

The release states police responded to the 300 block of Kennedy Drive at about 1:30 p.m. Friday, after a 26-year-old woman reported that her common-law husband, identified as Jurado, had struck her in the mouth with a closed fist, causing injury, before Jurado placed a gun in her mouth and threatened to kill her, then placed the gun to the daughter’s temple and threatened to kill her.

Odessa police obtained a search warrant for the residence, found Jurado at the residence, and took him to the Odessa Police Department for questioning, the release states. Detectives obtained warrants for Jurado, who was arrested and taken to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.

Records indicate Jurado was still in custody as of Monday afternoon.
