Man charged with threatening to kill girlfriend’s neighbor

The Odessa Police Department charged a man Saturday after he reportedly threatened to kill his girlfriend’s neighbor while holding a shotgun, an OPD press release said.

Police responded to the incident around 2:33 p.m. Saturday at Windchase Apartments, 4100 East 50th Street, the release detailed.

Upon arrival, officers made contact with a 17-year-old man, an 18-year-old woman and her boyfriend, 21-year-old Terrance Forbes, the release stated. Forbes’s girlfriend told police the 17-year-old man had given her a “dirty look” and when she told Forbes about the incident, Forbes grabbed the man by the shirt and threatened to beat him and his brother, the probable cause affidavit said.

Forbes’s girlfriend reportedly then began walking towards the man with a knife in her hand before Forbes grabbed her, the report detailed.

After the 17-year-old man had called his brother and a friend over to the complex, Forbes reportedly ran back into his apartment and came out with a shotgun, the report said, telling the man he would kill him.

Forbes was then charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a second-degree felony, the release said.

Jail records show Forbes was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Saturday and was released Sunday on a $50,000 bond.
