Man charged with shooting gun

Police arrested a man Thursday evening after he reportedly fired a gun to scare off his neighbors.

Officers were called about the incident around 7:35 p.m. Thursday in the 1200 block of Alpine Street. An Odessa Police Department news release stated dispatch advised a man was causing alarm by shooting at kids.

The suspect, 40-year-old Jason Fortune, was found upon arrival, the release detailed, and admitted to shooting a firearm into the air to scare off his neighbors. Several shell casings were found in the front yard of the residence and no injuries were reported.

Police charged Fortune with disorderly conduct — discharge firearm, a class B misdemeanor.

Jail records show Fortune was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Friday and released the same day on a $500 bond.
