Man charged with sexual assault of teenager

Deputies charged a man Thursday after he reportedly sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl.

The Ector County Sheriff’s Office was first contacted by the victim’s mother on Feb. 10, who told deputies her 13-year-old daughter had been sexually assaulted by a man, 19-year-old Joshua Louis Howard, the probable cause affidavit said.

Deputies went to the scene of the assault in the 800 block of Midland Street in Goldsmith, the document stated, where deputies found a mattress stained with blood.

A sexual assault nurse examination was conducted on the victim, the report detailed, which revealed the victim had been injured.

Investigators later conducted a voluntary interview with Howard, the affidavit said, who admitted he had oral and sexual intercourse with the victim, and was aware of her age at the time of the incident.

Deputies charged Howard with aggravated sexual assault of a child, a first-degree felony.

Jail records show Howard was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Friday, and was released the same day on a $50,000 bond.
