Man charged with copper wire theft

Deputies charged a suspect Wednesday who reportedly stole copper wire from numerous counties.

The arrest involved investigators from multiple sheriff’s offices including Ector, Midland, Gaines, Andrews and Dawson Counties, and investigators from XTO Energy, an Ector County Sheriff’s Office release said.

Deputies charged 28-year-old Christopher Larizza, who the release stated was already incarcerated for charges out of Andrews County for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and theft of material, copper wire, state jail felonies.

Larizza was further charged with selling stolen regulated material, a state jail felony, after he reportedly brought the copper from neighboring counties and sold it at local metal recycling companies, the release detailed.

Jail records show Larizza was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Friday and has three bonds totaling $90,000.
