Man charged after crashing into house

After crashing his vehicle into a house last month, a man was charged by police with evading arrest Sunday.

Officers first conducted a traffic stop Jan. 10 on a silver 2015 Chevrolet Traverse being driven by 27-year-old Gilbert Villa Guerrero in the 2700 block of Center Avenue, according to an Odessa Police Department news release.

As an officer was approaching the vehicle, the release detailed, Guerrero reportedly drove off at a dangerous rate of speed northbound on Center Avenue.

The vehicle then reportedly crashed into a home in the 3100 block of Center Avenue, where Guerrero then left the vehicle and escaped on foot, the release stated.

Guerrero was positively identified through a law enforcement database, and was arrested and charged Sunday with evading arrest in a motor vehicle, a third-degree felony, leaving the scene of an accident and driving while license invalid with prior convictions, class B misdemeanors.

Jail records show Guerrero was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Sunday and has three bonds totaling $8,500.
