Man arrested following stolen vehicle pursuit

A man was arrested Monday morning following pursuit of a stolen vehicle traveling from Winkler County to Ector County.

The Ector County Sheriff’s Office was advised by the Kermit Police Department around 5 a.m. Monday that they were in pursuit of a stolen silver 2018 Chevrolet pick-up traveling east on Highway 302 into Ector County, an ECSO news release stated.

Pursuit of the vehicle began east on Highway 302, the release stated. A deputy positioned near FM 866 and Highway 302 was able to deploy stop sticks, which deflated the front tires of the vehicle.

The vehicle continued to evade deputies and state troopers before finally coming to a stop near Third Street and Dixie Boulevard, the release detailed. The driver exited the vehicle and evaded for a short time before being tazed.

Deputies charged the driver, 30-year-old Joshua Ismael Perrett with unauthorized use of a vehicle, a state jail felony, and evading arrest, a third-degree felony.

Jail records show Perrett was taken to the Ector County Detention Center Monday. No bonds have been set yet.
