ECTOR COUNTY FELONY DISPOSITIONS: November 22, 2021

The following is a list of felony dispositions from the Ector County District Clerk’s Office. Listed attorneys do not necessarily represent who was involved when the case was disposed. The prosecuting attorney was not listed unless otherwise stated.

ACCIDENT INVOLVING DEATH

Joanna Ruiz, 43, pleaded guilty June 18 to accident involving death and was sentenced to five years in prison. Judge Justin Low approved the deal. D. Bret Mansur was the attorney.

ASSAULT

Dara Demaje Woods, 27, was granted community supervision discharge and dismissal Nov. 10 on the charge of aggravated assault with deadly weapon. Judge Justin Low presided. Feliz Abalos was the attorney.

Joel Luna, 37, pleaded guilty Nov. 17 to aggravated assault date/family/house serious bodily injury and was convicted by jury to 36 years in prison. Judge Denn Whalen approved the deal. Jason Leach was the attorney.

EVADING ARREST

David Jeremy Veliz, 38, was granted community supervision discharge and dismissal Nov. 9 on the charge of evading arrest detain with vehicle. Judge John W. Smith presided. Jason Schoel was the attorney

Marco Antoni Bustillos, 23, was granted community supervision discharge and dismissal Nov. 17 on the charge of evading arrest detain with vehicle. Judge James Rush presided. Glen G. Halsell was the attorney.

Ruben Armendariz, Jr., 20, pleaded guilty Oct. 28 to evading arrest detain with vehicle (F3) and was sentenced to three years probation and 10 years in prison (suspended) in an order adjudicating guilt. Judge W. Stacy Trotter approved the deal. Phillip Wildman Jr. was the attorney.

FAIL TO COMPLY

Arthur Wesley Green, 52, had a fail to comply sex off duty to register life/90 day charge dismissed Nov. 15. Judge James Rush presided. Tony Chavez was the attorney.

Joel John Valdez, 26, had his probation revoked Nov. 3 on the charge of fail to comply with sex offender registration and was sentenced to two years in state jail. Judge Tryon D. Lewis approved the deal.

INJURY CHILD/ELDERLY/DISABLE

Kimberly Dawn Rodriguez, 30, pleaded guilty Nov. 12 to injury child/elderly/disable with intentional bodily injury and was sentenced to three years probation. Judge James Rush approved the deal. Felix Neboh was the attorney.

MANUFACTURE DELIVERY

John Anthony Sanchez, 21, had his probation amended Nov. 9 on the charge of manufacture delivery of a controlled substance, more than four grams, but less than 200 grams, and was sentenced to life years in prison in an order adjudicating guilt. Judge Denn Whalen approved the deal. Johanna Curry was the attorney.

MURDER

Damien Dubree Smith, 39, pleaded guilty Nov. 12 on two counts of murder and was sentenced by jury to life years in prison. Judge Justin Low approved the deal. D. Bret Mansur was the attorney.

Joel Luna, 37, pleaded guilty Nov. 17 to capital murder individual under age ten and was convicted by jury to life in prison. Judge Denn Whalen approved the deal. Chris Fostel was the attorney.

POSSESSION OF A CONTROLLED SUBSTANCE

Dolores Ofelia Leal, 21, had a possession of a controlled substance charge, less than one gram, dismissed Nov. 12. Judge Denn Whalen presided.

Eliud Rendon, 28, had a possession of a controlled substance charge, more than one gram, but less than four grams, dismissed Nov. 12. Judge Denn Whalen presided.

Joshua Aguilera, 22, pleaded guilty Nov. 12 to possession of a controlled substance, more than four grams, but less than 200 grams, and was sentenced to four years probation and deferred adjudication. Judge James Rush approved the deal. Jason Leach was the attorney.

Taharqa Sunny Rhodes, 42, pleaded guilty Nov. 17 to possession of a controlled substance, less than one gram, and was sentenced to six months in state jail. Judge John Shrode approved the deal.

William Anthony Delahoussaye, 41, was granted community supervision discharge and dismissal Nov. 15 on the charge of possession of a controlled substance, more than one gram, but less than four grams. Judge James Rush presided.

SEXUAL ASSAULT

Zeke Galindo Espinoza, 30, pleaded guilty Oct. 7 to an aggravated sexual assault of a child (F1) and was sentenced to 10 years probation and deferred adjudication. Judge Tryon D. Lewis approved the deal. Audie M. Reese was the attorney.

TAMPER/FABRICATE

Ilidia Leann Baca, 37, pleaded guilty Nov. 17 to tamper/fabricate physical evidence with intent to impair and was sentenced to four years probation and deferred adjudication. Judge John Shrode approved the deal. Luis A. Chavez was the attorney.

THEFT

Alexandrea Leeann Snowden, 24, had a theft of firearm charge dismissed Nov. 8. Judge Justin Low presided. Christy Lynn Cauthen was the attorney.

Felix Chavez, Jr., 31, pleaded guilty Oct. 15 to theft with previous convictions and was sentenced to nine months in state jail. Judge Justin Low approved the deal. Felix Neboh was the attorney.

Genaro Santiesteban Carranza, 35, pleaded guilty Oct. 5 to theft of property with two previous convictions and was sentenced to six months in state jail. Judge Justin Low approved the deal.

Taylor Joe McCarty, 24, pleaded guilty Oct. 15 to theft property, more than $2,500, but less than $30,000 and was sentenced to 10 months in state jail. Judge Justin Low approved the deal.

UNAUTHORIZED USE OF VEHICLE
