The reported assault happened around 11:48 p.m. Nov. 8 in the 800 block of Seminole Street, an Odessa Police Department probable cause affidavit stated.

Upon arrival, officer Katelyn Paredes reportedly heard a loud disturbance and banged on the door quickly. Paredes held the subject inside at gunpoint and ordered the man to the ground. The man was detained and identified as Stephens.

Officers made contact with Nichols and she was uncooperative with the investigation, the affidavit stated. Officers were unable to get further information from Nichols.

Officers reportedly spoke to a witness at the scene, identified as Ashlee Skinner, who stated that around 11:45 p.m. Nov. 7 that Nichols told Stephens “Don’t walk up on me” and swung a knife at him causing cuts on his left hand.

Skinner also witnessed the two assaulting one another as Nichols and Stephens were charged, arrested and transported to the Ector County Law Enforcement Center.

Nichols has one bond totaling $25,000 and was still in custody as of Wednesday afternoon, jail records show. Stephens had one bond totaling $386 and he posted bail on Nov. 9.
