Council to consider new Floyd Gwin Park building

The Odessa City Council on Tuesday will consider a $416,500 bid by Onyx Contractors to construct a new restroom/concession building at Floyd Gwin Park.

The facility would be part of the park’s new Little League Baseball Complex already under construction, according to the proposal submitted by Odessa Parks & Recreation Director Steve Patton.

The proposed building would include four toilets and two sinks in the lady’s restroom, while there would be two urinals, two toilets and two sinks in the men’s restroom. Additionally, the entire north side of the building will be dedicated for concessions operations with two six-foot wide serving windows.

According to their Tuesday agenda, council is also expected to approve Odessa Fire Rescue’s request to spend $163,979.97 to purchase three Stryker Power Load and Cot Systems that will be installed in 3 already purchased ambulances. The devices include a cot and stair chair to provide 911 patient care.

Council will also be asked to approve the purchase of two Chevy 2500 Trucks for Odessa Rescue’s Training Division at a cost of $143,754. These trucks are often used to pull EUV trailers, tire trailers and haul foam to emergency scenes and events.
