THE POINT: Thanks to Medical Center Hospital and Parks Legado for providing the Permian Basin with farmers markets this summer.

If you didn’t hit the Parks Legado Farmers Market on Saturday you missed a lot of great music and food and fellowship.

Everything from art lessons for the kiddos to yoga lessons for adults to delicious fresh foods straight from the garden.

The turnout was just phenomenal and many ended up parking blocks away just for the chance to stroll through the market at the Parks Legado square.

Both Parks Legado and Medical Center Hospital are offering summer farmers markets that go all the way to September.

It’s a wonderful chance to see what your friends and neighbors are growing or cooking or brewing.

Prices were good and the treats were delicious.

Don’t worry if you missed it – there are farmers markets scheduled there July 13, Aug. 10 and Sept. 24. A word of advice is to get there early and bring your yoga mat.

Medical Center Hospital also provides farmers markets until September in downtown Odessa at Second Street and Alleghaney Avenue. They are scheduled June 22, July 27, Aug. 24 and Sept. 28.

Their stated goal is to promote health and wellness by providing a farmers market where the community can purchase a variety of locally-grown, farm-fresh produce and related products.

A local pair is also getting in on the farmers markets this summer. Nu Ann Lewis and Troy Crumrine (also known as Farmer Troy) are holding their own farmers markets on Tuesdays and Thursdays and the first, third and Fifth Saturdays of the month on West 47th Street near Dos Amigos.

These are great things going on that are free to attend. But take some cash as you won’t be able to resist the yummy offerings from local farmers, bakers and others.

And, while you are there, be sure to give them a hearty thanks for putting on these events for Odessans.
