LAFAYETTE, LA. A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2007, at 11:00 a.m. at Progressive Baptist Church for William “W.T.” Thomas, 57, who passed away October 2, 2007, at his residence in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. The Rev. E. James Guidry, Pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church (Abbeville, LA), will officiate at the services.

W.T. was a native of Odessa, Texas, and a resident of Lafayette for the past 12 years.

A graduate of East Texas State University, he was a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He retired from Allstate Insurance Company as a Claims Supervisor and was very instrumental with his innovative ideas, which enhanced the company’s production. He was a proactive member of Progressive Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Lloyd Joiner Jr. While at Progressive he served as a Trustee Board Member, Sanctuary Choir Member, LINKIES, Brotherhood Ministry and a Sunday School Instructor. He was a man of integrity, charismatic, and dedicated to all tasks assigned to him. He was a happy and loyal friend with a keen sense of humor to all who came in contact with him. He was very active with Troop 19 Boy Scouts, Brown Park Sports and Upward Basketball. He was truly loved by the residents of the Lafayette Housing Authority and employees and clients of Acadiana Transit.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Ada Faulk-Thomas of Lafayette, his mother, Mozelle Stokes-Thomas of Odessa, TX, two brothers, Bobby Thomas (Tosha) and Robert Thomas (Darlene) of Odessa, Texas; three children, Tiffani Kamille Thomas, of Dallas, TX, Sean Cameron Thomas, of Fayette, Mississippi and Travis Duane Thomas, of Lafayette; one step-son, Thaddaeus Duane Christy (Felecia); two grandsons, Derrien and Caleb Xavier of Texas; loving mother-in-law, Joyce Cola Faulk, two sisters-in-law, Barbara Senegal (Glynn) and Carolyn Beavers-Guidry (Rev. E. James Guidry), three brothers-in-law, Dwight Faulk (Eula), George Faulk, and John Faulk (Wanda). He also leaves to cherish many uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends.

W.T. was preceded in death by his father, William Travis Thomas, Sr. his maternal grandparents, Louis and Vergie Stokes, paternal grandparents, Britt and Elizabeth “Big Mama” Thomas.

The family would like to give special thanks to Hospice of Acadiana, University Medical Center, Minister Geraldine Lee, FMC Dialysis Center and Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital and his awesome family and Progressive Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held Saturday, October 6, 2007, at Progressive Baptist Church, 2001 East Simcoe Street, Lafayette, La., from 7 a.m. until time of services.
