ODESSA Jimmie E. Rasor went home to be with the Lord on June 24, 2010. He was born May 23, 1924, in Sweetwater, Texas, to August Cocke and George Rasor. He married Doris L. DuBose on Dec. 27, 1947, in Gonzales, Texas.

Jimmie served in the U.S. Army in WWII. Once WWII ended, Jimmie finished high school and went to college. Jimmie graduated from Abilene Christian College in 1950 with a degree in Business Administration. He and Doris moved to Odessa in 1956.

He was a devoted member of Sixth and Jackson Church of Christ, serving as an elder for many years.

Jimmie worked for Lester Humphrey Pest Control for over 40 years, retiring in 1995.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, George and Bob; and sisters, Joyce and Carolyn Jo.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; sons, Jimmy and wife Rena of Midland, Texas, and Roy and his wife Julie of Roswell, N.M.; granddaughters, Jana Mont­gomery and husband Dan of Roswell, N.M., Lindsey Barnhouse and husband Brandon of Abilene, Kan., and Karli Reeves and husband Derek of Las Cruces, N.M.; grandson, Garrett Rasor and wife Tiffany of Houston, Texas; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Family visitation will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, June 25, 2010, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Sixth and Jackson Church of Christ with Roy Smalling officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses in CCU and Hospice. We also would like to thank the members of Sixth and Jackson for the almost daily meals, prayers and support in the last year.

Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
