MARBLE FALLS Jesse Lee “Jess” Truett, Jr., 82, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at the Comfort House in McAllen, Texas. He was born on March 20, 1925 in Artesia, New Mexico. He proudly served in the United States Air Force as a P-51 Fighter Pilot with the 364th Fighter Group. He was awarded the Air Medal with 6 Oak Leaf Clusters and the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain in 1945.

Mr. Truett graduated from New Mexico State University in 1950 with a degree in civil engineering. He raised his family in Odessa, Texas where he was in the engineering business and then moved to Marble Falls, Texas in 1987. After an early retirement from the engineering field he was employed at Edgar Funeral Home in Marble Falls.

He was a very active member of the First Baptist Church in Marble Falls and became a member of the First Baptist Church in Pharr when he moved to the Rio Grande Valley in 2006.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Lee and Pearl Truett, and his brother, Wayne Truett.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Wanda Truett of Pharr; his sons, Brent (Barbara) Truett of Rockwall and Derek Truett of Austin; daughter, Laura (Henry) Mayo of Edinburg; four grandchildren, Rodney Mayo of Edinburg, Jennifer (Michael) Tamez of McAllen, Cheryl Truett of Corpus Christi and Tara Truett of Austin; and brother John Truett of Roswell, NM.

His love for The Lord, his family and friends will always be remembered and cherished forever.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2007, at the Edgar Funeral Home, Marble Falls.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2007, at the First Baptist Church, Marble Falls with Rev. Steve Peace and Rev. Max Copeland officiating. Interment will follow in Lakeland Hills Memorial Park under the direction of Edgar Funeral Home, Marble Falls.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Comfort House Services, 617 Dallas Ave., McAllen, TX 78501.
