ODESSA Betty Lee Caldwell, 79, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Friday, July 20, 2007, at Medical Center Hospital.

She was born December 5, 1927, in Indian Prairie, Illinois to Beryl Sons and Lela Howe Sons. She married Donald Caldwell on April 14, 1968 in Long Beach, California.

Betty is a lifetime member of the VFW Her passions included arts, crafts, and bowling. She also enjoyed participating in local flea markets. One of her greatest loves was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her father Beryl Sons, her mother Lela (Howe) Sons, her brother Galen Sons, and her husband Donald Caldwell.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Jackie Carman and husband Tommy of Odessa; brother, Lowell Sons and wife Barbara of Flora, Illinois; sisters, Patty Thomas and husband Sherman of Clay City, Illinois, and Donna Taylor and husband Rick of Edinburg, Indiana; a grandson Gerald Carman and wife Linda of Houston, Texas; a granddaughter Kim Williams and husband Scott of Dallas, Texas; and two great grandchildren.

There will be a visitation from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 26, 2007, at Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. She will be laid to rest at Sunset Memorial gardens.

Pallbearers will be Roger Wagner, Rick Price, Troy Webb, Casey Price, Jeremy Wagner and Cody McCurry.

A luncheon gathering will take place for the family to receive visitors from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 26, 2007, at the MCM Eleganté, Waterfront Room at 5200 E. University Blvd.

Arrangements are by Hubbard Kelly Funeral Home.
