GOOD NEWS: Employee of the Year

The Odessa Rotary Club held its annual Odessa City Employee of the Year Award luncheon recently at Odessa College. Odessa Rotary Club President Gus Ortega and City Manager Michael Marrero recognized the three finalists for this year’s award during the banquet. The finalists are, pictured from left: Marisa Rodriguez, utility and ambulance billing supervisor in the billing and collections department; Patrick Land, battalion chief with Odessa Fire Rescue; and Leo Ibarra, garage supervisor in the equipment services department. This year’s Employee of the Year award went to Land who received a beautiful plaque and check from the Odessa Rotary Club for his outstanding service. Rodriguez and Ibarra also received a plaque and check for their tremendous dedication to the city. The Odessa Rotary Club is a local organization that is part of Rotary International, the world’s first service club. Rotary is an organization of business and professional persons, united worldwide, who provide humanitarian service and encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and build goodwill and peace in the world. The Odessa Rotary Club was organized on March 3, 1938 and admitted to Rotary International on March 9, 1938.
