GOOD NEWS: Salvation Army offers safe, fun space

Gym is open to the public for events and sports

The Salvation Army partners with Erika Aquino who happens to be a 2nd Degree Black Belt.

Aquino has practiced Take Kwon Do since she was 12 years old. She is from Mexico and has lived in Odessa for the past 10 years.

Her business is known as Aquino Taekwondo and was birthed during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The mission is to share Taekwondo classes to the Hispanic community of Ector County while offering Bilingual classes and developing virtues such as humility, camaraderie, respect, self-control among other positive teachings to motivate kids starting as early as 3 to 99 years of age. Aquino Taekwondo also offers self defense classes to women.

Aquino Taekwondo meets at 5 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday at The Salvation Army, 810 E. 11th St.

The Salvation Army joins Aquino Taekwondo in offering this sport at our gym helping local children and youth while hoping one day in the future to have an Olympic Champion whose dream started here in Odessa.
