On September 28, Venezuelans around the world will mobilize for the freedom of Venezuela. On this occasion, they are making an international appeal, following the electoral victory of candidate Edmundo González Urrutia, calling on free nations worldwide to recognize him as the elected president of Venezuela and to demand further action from the International Criminal Court (ICC) regarding the wave of crimes against humanity. These global activities are taking place in the context of the United Nations General Assembly, a news release said.
According to the CNE records gathered by citizens during the presidential elections held in Venezuela on July 28, 2024, the presidential candidate Edmundo González Urrutia secured a majority of 7,173,152 votes cast by Venezuelans.
As two months pass since the victory for the freedom of Venezuela, Venezuelans worldwide are making a global call to urge free countries to raise their voices in favor of recognizing Edmundo González as the President-elect according to the election results, to end the repression against citizens, and to stop the crimes against humanity, the release said.
The rally also aims to encourage the international community to demand respect for the people’s sovereignty, as expressed in the July 28 vote where Edmundo González was elected, and to urge the International Criminal Court to intervene and take action regarding the wave of crimes against humanity occurring in the country. This mobilization seeks to add voices to the global Venezuelan cause to highlight the urgency of what is happening in the country and strengthen international support for the restoration of democracy in Venezuela.
We appreciate the presence of media and journalists at this rally in Midland and Odessa, as their support is essential to broadcast and denounce the current situation in Venezuela internationally. The international community plays a crucial role in defending freedom in Venezuela, the release said.
A local rally is scheduled at 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at Beal Park, 5200 W Wall St., in Midland.
