The Fire Marshal Division and the Ector County Sheriff Department will be installing free smoke detectors from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. today in the neighborhood of 1600 Halter and 1600 Bridle Patch.

CHILDREN’S CHEER CLINIC

The University of Texas Permian Basin has scheduled a children’s cheerleading workshop on today at Astound Broadband Stadium, 5514 Champions Drive, Midland.

Three- to five-year-olds will be learning from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., six to nine year olds from 10:30 to noon, and 10+ and older from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The Ector County Sheriff’s Office is raising funds for The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

All donations are 100% tax deductible and benefit the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), funding research, education, advocacy, and support for those affected by suicide.

A ceremony, “Out of the Darkness,” will take place today at Memorial Gardens.

BLOODY BILL’S CHAINSAW CARNAGE

Bloody Bill Productions has scheduled its 24th season of Chainsaw Carnage, Halloween haunted attraction on the weekends through Oct. 31.

The attraction will be open from 7 p.m. to midnight today, Oct. 28-29 and from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Oct. 30-31.

The Chainsaw Carnage is an outdoor maze that involves several different obstacles and doors with a bunch of curtains with people holding chainsaws.
