Comments 0 | Recommend 0>> SENIOR LEAGUE -- Odessa earns berth in Waco: Dominic Ramirez pitched four innings and scored three runs to help the Odessa All-Stars beat Childress 23-4 in five innings and claim a Texas West Section 1 Senior League title at Floyd Gwin Park on Saturday.
Odessa earned a trip to Waco from July 18-22 to play in the Texas West Senior League state championship. Odessa beat Childress 19-5 in five innings on Friday.
Warren Turner hit an inside-the-park homer for Odessa. Ty Ahrendt had three hits, including a double, and scored two runs.
"We did what we always do," Odessa coach Sheldon Jenkins said. "We just hit the baseball and tried to be aggressive on the bases."
Eight Odessa batters were hit by a pitch on Saturday. Childress pitchers hit five batters in the fifth inning.
Childress also committed five errors.
Ahrendt replaced Ramirez and retired the side in the fifth.

"We didn't play to our capabilities," Sherwood coach Paul Henry said. "That happens sometimes at the 9-10 year-old level."
Sherwood drops to the consolation bracket with the loss and will play El Paso at 8 p.m. today. The winner advances to Monday's championship game against Lubbock Western.
