WOMEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Lady Falcons win to remain in first-place tie
GOODWELL, Okla. Teisha King scored a game-high 26 points for the UTPB women’s basketball team, which held off Oklahoma Panhandle State 106-98 Thursday to maintain a share of the Heartland Conference lead.
Tammy Acosta added 17 points and dished out six assists without committing a turnover. Jessi Cowden scored 15 points for the Lady Falcons, and post players Taniqua Ards and Briannah Matthews combined for 23 points and 13 rebounds.
UTPB (18-6 overall, 8-2 conference), which won its seventh game in a row, remained in a first-place tie with Newman (19-5, 8-2). The teams will meet at noon Saturday in Wichita, Kan.
