Lady Falcons lose

DALLAS Sarah Meierhofer scored two unassisted goals to help Dallas Baptist beat UTPB 3-0 in a Heartland Conference women’s soccer match on Tuesday.

Meierhofer scored one goal in each half to help Dallas Baptist (3-8 overall, 1-4 conference) stop a seven-match losing streak.

Goalkeeper Stephanie Ward made four saves for UTPB (3-7-2), which lost for the third time in four matches.

Letha Irvin and Tiffany Richter had the lone shots on goal for UTPB, which was outshot 16-2.

Ramirez gets eighth

SAN ANGELO UTPB’s Raul Ramirez ran to an eighth-place finish at the ASU Blue & Gold Classic at Angelo State on Tuesday.

Ramirez finished in 28 minutes, 8 seconds to lead UTPB, whose men’s team finished fourth with 94 points.

Ventura Ramirez finished 36th in 31:30 to lead Odessa College, which was fifth with 135 points.

Tarleton State, which had the top two finishers, won the meet with 33 points.

Yomi Bueno finished 20th in 21:56 for UTPB, which finished seventh with 154 points.

Tarleton State, which had the second-, third- and fourth-place finishers, won the women’s race with 19 points.
