College baseball: UTPB picks up Heartland Conference win
WICHITA, Kan. Brantley Miller went a combined 7-for-8 for the UTPB baseball team in its doubleheader win at Newman University on Saturday, helping the Falcons take three of four in a Heartland Conference series.
UTPB (20-8 overall, 17-6) won 6-4 in the first game and 12-7 in the second against the Jets (16-12 overall, 14-11).
In the second contest, the Falcons rallied from a 5-3 deficit to notch five runs in the top of the fourth.
Kevin Enklemann (3-for-4, three RBIs) had a go-ahead two-RBI single for UTPB in the inning.
In the first game, Newman went ahead 1-0 in the first, but the Falcons tied it in the second and added the go-ahead run in the third on Jack Wortley's RBI single.
Wortley was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs.
Starter Kyle Frets (1-0) struck out nine batters and allowed four runs in six innings, while Jordan Strode pitched the seventh for his first save.
