College swimming: UTPB faces McMurry in Midland

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

The UTPB men's and women's swim teams will continue their season at 6 p.m. today by facing off against McMurry University in a dual meet.

With the weather too cold to swim in the Falcon Cube, tonight's dual meet will be conducted at the Mabee Memorial Aquatic Center in Midland. It is the program's last designated home action of the season.

UTPB last competed Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at the Hendrix Classic Invitational and the Hendrix Relays in Conway, Ark.

During the Invitational, UTPB's men were second out of six teams behind school-record performances from Joe Sarradet in the 100 backstroke and 200 backstroke and Matt Smith in the 200 breaststroke.

UTPB's women were sixth of the nine teams at the meet as Caitlan McCain set a school record in the 200 butterfly while Allie Lape set program bests in the 500 and 1,000 freestyle races.

On Nov. 1, the UTPB men were third out of 10 teams in the Hendrix Relays while the UTPB women were fourth out of 10 teams.
