College soccer: Fowler, Tech awarded play-in game at Big 12 Tournament

The Texas Tech women’s soccer team lost 2-0 to Colorado on Friday as the Big 12 regular season came to an end and had every other result in the league go poorly, but will still have a chance to qualify for the Big 12 Tournament.

Freshman defender Haley Fowler, a 2009 Permian graduate, played the entire 90 minutes as the Red Raiders (8-8-3 overall, 3-4-3 conference) fell into a three-way tie for seventh place along with Baylor (8-5-5) and Kansas (12-7-1).

Baylor was awarded the No. 7 seed for the Big 12 Tournament while Tech and Kansas will face off in a Big 12 Tournament play-in game at 6 p.m. Monday in San Antonio. The Tech-Kansas winner then will play No. 1 seed Missouri at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the tournament’s opening round.

Fowler started all 10 of Tech’s conference games and played in all but 30 minutes of those contests.
