Cross country: OHS girls second, boys third in Abilene
Comments 0 | Recommend 0ABILENE Kirsten Taylor and Gabby Valeriano notched top-10 finishes Saturday to help lead Odessa High's girls to a second-place team finish in the ACU September Cross Country Classic at Sherrod Residential Park.
The Lady Bronchos finished with 54 points, behind only seventh-ranked Lubbock Coronado (38), their new District 2-5A rival. Coronado had runners finished second, third and fifth en route to the victory.
Taylor led OHS with a sixth-place finish and Valeriano was eighth. Mindy Navarette took 12th, Tiffany Barrera was 14th and Ali Morgan finished 18th to round out the team scoring.
In the boys meet, Odessa High scored 69 points for third behind home team Abilene High (44) and traditional Class 4A power big Spring (53). OHS was well ahead of District 2-5A rival Lubbock Coronado (88).
Ryan Herrera and Eric Carrasco finished 10th and 11th to lead the Bronchos. Edwar Zubiate was 13th, Caleb Neptune was 18th and Maurilio Pando was 20th to round out Odessa High's team finishes.
