MEN'S COLLEGE BASKETBALL: Falcons streak into Laredo

The UTPB men’s basketball team will try to win its fourth consecutive Heartland Conference game when it faces Texas A&M International at 2 p.m. today in Laredo.

The Falcons (9-12 overall, 3-5 conference), who have won two games in a row on the road, opened league play with a 65-59 loss to the Dustdevils on Jan. 5 in Odessa. Texas A&M International (17-4, 7-1) has won five in a row overall and is tied for first place with Newman, which suffered its first conference loss Thursday night at Arkansas-Fort Smith.

Branden Harrison leads UTPB with 11.6 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, despite having made only six starts this season and averaging the fifth-most minutes per game on the team. Evan Matteson and Ryan McLucas, who missed the first game against UTPB, both average 12.6 points to lead the Dustdevils.
