College golf: ASU's Smith set for Division II regional tournament

Angelo State University junior Raelyn Smith, a 2006 Permian High School graduate, is scheduled to play today through Wednesday in the NCAA Women's Division II West Regional golf tournament in Omaha, Neb.

Smith, who transferred to Angelo State from the University of Texas, finished in a tie for second in the medalist standings last month at the Lone Star Conference Championships.

She is one of four medalists from non-qualifying teams who will be playing for a possible berth to the NCAA Division II National Championships.

Smith won five of nine events Angelo State played at during its first season of competition.
