College golf: OC's second team leads tourney

GRANBURY The Odessa College Wranglers second team outshot the first team and every other team to take the first-round lead at the Harbor Lakes Invitational on Monday.

Mark Penny shot a 3-under 69 to lead the medal standings and Ross Leeds tied for third place with a 71 as OC II carded a 295 at Harbor Lakes Golf Club to take a 10-stroke lead over Tyler Junior College.

Kris Harper is in a three-way tie for 13th place at 76, while Thomas Corkum shot 79 and Jeff Stashuk shot 87.

Odessa College I is tied for seventh with the Abilene Christian junior varsity after shooting 316.

Jordan Jeffers of OC I is in a four-way tie for eighth at 75, while Ryan Myers is part of a six-man group tied for 20th at 78. Matthew Nolasco shot 80, while Joseph Totah and Landon Waters both shot 83s.

The 36-hole tournament concludes today with the second round.
