AUSTIN Starter Drew Kendrick lasted just 2 1/3 innings and UTPB lost 7-4 to St. Edward's on Saturday to lose its first Heartland Conference series.

The Falcons (13-5 overall, 10-4) lost the first two games of the three-game series Friday in Austin.

Kendrick (3-2) was tagged for six runs - five earned - and five hits in the short span as the Falcons fell into a 6-1 deficit in the bottom of the third.

The Hilltoppers (8-9, 7-7) barely out-hit UTPB 10 to nine, but scored six runs on just two hits in the third.

St. Edward's starter Patrick Scholl (3-2) earned the win and allowed seven hits and four runs, but none were earned. Both teams had five errors.

The Falcons host Lincoln for a three-game conference series beginning with a doubleheader at noon Saturday.
