Odessa's Parker on the move
MIDLAND The Midland RockHounds scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning and it would prove to be enough as they defeated the Frisco RoughRiders 3-1 Thursday night at Citibank Ballpark.
Matt Sulentic doubled to lead off the inning and then scored on a ground out by Stephen Parker. Parker then moved to second on a passed ball and scored on Wes Timmons’ single to center field.
Midland improved to 20-20 in the second half, one game behind Frisco (21-19) for second place in the Texas League South Division.
ON THE MOVE
Permian graduate Logan Parker, who was leading the Gateway Grizzlies of the Frontier League with a .355 batting average, was traded Thursday to the River City Rascals for pitcher Erick Carrillo and three players to be named later.
The move puts Parker, a first baseman, on a team that is nine games in front of the Frontier League’s West Division. Gateway was 22 games behind River City in the standings.
In 62 games with the Grizzlies, Parker had 87 hits, 22 doubles, three triples, 11 home runs, 61 RBIs and had scored 52 runs, with just 23 strikeouts in 245 at-bats.
