Pro baseball: Hooks use 3 HRs to blast RockHounds
Comments 0 | Recommend 0MIDLAND Tommy Manzella, Eli Org and Mitch Einertson all hit two-run home runs to help the Corpus Christi Hooks rout the Midland RockHounds 10-1 on Sunday in a Texas League baseball game at Citibank Ballpark.
Manzella hit an inside-the-park homer in the second to give Corpus Christi a 2-0 lead, Iorg hit his blast in a three-run sixth that made it 5-0, and Einertson hit his shot to cap a five run seventh that made it 10-0.
Ole Sheldon had a two-run double in the seventh for Corpus Christi.
Midland's Myron Leslie led off the eighth with his sixth home run of the season.
Corpus Christi starter Sergio Perez allowed two hits and struck out six in six shutout innings. Hooks reliever Ryan McKeller allowed Leslie's homer.
Midland starter Andrew Bailey (1-3) allowed five runs and eight hits in six innings, but he struck out nine. RockHounds reliever Chris Farley allowed five runs and four hits in two-thirds of an inning.
The same two teams conclude their four-game series at 6:30 p.m. today at Citibank Ballpark.
