>> UTPB men stay undefeated: The UTPB men's soccer team stayed undefeated by beating Schreiner 2-0 in the Falcons' home opener Thursday.

Nasser Abraham scored both goals for the Falcons, and he was helped by assists from Carlos Guillen and Luis Paiva.

UTPB (4-0) took twice as many shots as Schreiner and dominated the action in the second half, when the Falcons attempted 12 shots and Schreiner only attempted three.

Falcons goalie Gage Peterson made six saves for the shutout.

>> On to Denton: The UTPB volleyball team better get used to long weekends.

The Falcons (1-3) begin play at the Texas Woman's Tournament in Denton today, one week after traveling to Canyon to play in the West Texas A&M Tourney.

UTPB opens at 11 a.m. against Texas Wesleyan before facing Cameron (Okla.) at 6 p.m.

Amithy Henry and Krystal Polk combined to lead UTPB's attack with 37 and 30 kills, respectively, in last week's performance at Canyon.

Setter Brianna Ausdenmoore has racked up 100 assists for the Falcons this season, and she's got another option in Monahans graduate Bailey Marcum, who had 21 kills in her collegiate debut last weekend.
