Soccer: UTPB roundup

>> UTPB men rally: In Honolulu, after a goal by Chaminade in the 26th minute, the UTPB men's soccer team stormed back and sealed an undefeated season-opening trip by beating the Silverswords 3-2 on Monday.

Chaminade's 1-0 lead did not last long. About eight minutes later, Nasser Abraham, Luis Paiva and Carlos Guillen scored three goals in three consecutive minutes.

Chaminade scored in the 53rd minute.

The Falcons (3-0) return home to play Schreiner at 3 p.m. Thursday.

>> UTPB women fall: In Laie, Hawaii, the BYU-Hawaii women's soccer team scored three goals in the opening 17 minutes and went on to post a 4-2 win over UTPB on Monday.

Freshman Kaylyn Settle scored two goals early in the second half to get UTPB within 3-2, but Margaret Sekona scored in the 82nd minute.

The Lady Falcons (2-1) had defeated Chaminade on Saturday and lost to Hawaii Pacific on Thursday.

UTPB will play Abilene Christian at 5 p.m. today.

Sophomore Courtney Wilson, a Permian graduate who was the District 3-5A offensive player of the year as a senior, plays for Abilene Christian. She had six goals and six assists in 20 starts last season.
