Golf: Parks records lowest round of year

OMAHA, Neb. Odessa native Blake Parks carded his lowest round of the season Thursday in the first round of the Nationwide Tour’s Cox Classic, carding a 5-under-par 65 at Champions Run in Omaha, Neb.

Parks, in his first full season on the Nationwide Tour, had four birdies, one eagle and one bogey during his round and sits four shots behind leader Tommy Biershenk.

The solid start puts Parks in position to make his second cut of the season. He will play his second round this morning.
