Texas League: Corpus Christi blanks RockHounds

MIDLAND Brett Oberholtzer pitched 7.2 scoreless innings against the Midland RockHounds, who opened their last homestand of the season Tuesday night with a 5-0 loss against Corpus Christi at Citibank Ballpark.

The RockHounds (29-28 Texas League second half), who have lost six of their last seven games, fell into third place in the South Division and dropped eight games behind first-place San Antonio. They host the last-place Hooks (23-34) again at 6:30 p.m. today.

Oberholtzer, a 22-year-old left-hander, earned his first Texas League win after allowing four hits and one walk while striking out seven. Daniel Meszaros finished off the shutout, while Jon Gaston and T.J. Steele had two hits apiece for the Hooks.

Stephen Parker had two of the RockHounds’ six hits.
