Youth softball / baseball: Southwest Region Junior League finals

>> Softball -- Louisiana gets title: Calhoun, La., scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to edge Robinson, Texas, 3-2 in the title game of the Southwest Region Junior League Softball Tournament on Tuesday at Odessa College.

Calhoun, which went 3-0 in the tournament, advances to the Junior League World Series in Kirkland, Wash., from Aug. 10-16.

Robinson, which finished 2-2 in the tournament, lost to Calhoun 3-1 on Monday but came back to defeat Seguin, Texas, in an elimination game later Monday to advance to the title game.

>> Baseball -- Alvin wins region championship: Alvin defeated Laredo 10-5 in the second title game to win the Southwest Region Junior League Tournament on Tuesday in Midland.

Laredo forced a deciding game by defeating Alvin 10-5 in the first championship game earlier in the day.
