College rodeo: OC lands 10 in final region rankings
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Colter Harden was fifth and Cory Baudoin was seventh in bareback riding for Odessa College's highest finishes in the final Southwest Region standings of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association.
The Odessa College men's and women's teams both finished 10th in the 15-team region.
Harden scored 720 points during the season, while Baudoin scored 390 points. Teammate Jeremy Mouton scored 73.3 points in the event, which was won by Jared Smith of Ranger with 1,163.3 points.
Derk Robinson was eighth in bull riding with 245 points, while teammates Stetson Lewis was 12th with 190 points and Aaron Lide was 14th with 130 points. Bradley Pierce of Western Texas finished first with 760 points.
Lide was eighth with 300 points in saddle bronc riding, while Cody Angland of Western Texas finished first with 1,090 points.
Chad McNerlin was 13th with 170 points in team roping header. Jake Brown of Texas Tech was first with 780 points.
Klay Harris was 14th with 193.3 points in steer wrestling, while Cord Spradley of Western Texas was first with 655 points. Harley Cole of Sul Ross State was 10th with 220 points.
Cinnamon Johnston finished 10th in goat tying with 285 points. Cassie Vierstra of South Plains was first with 622.5 points, while Kaycee Watt of Sul Ross State was fourth with 445 points.
Dani McGuire tied for 11th in breakaway roping with 195 points. Arena Robertson of Weaterhford finished first with 650 points.
The OC men finished with 1,866.66 points, while Western Texas finished first with 4,233.33 points and Ranger was second with 3,738.33 points. Sul Ross State was 14th with 330 points.
The OC women had 355 points, while Texas Tech finished first with 2,005 points and Tarleton State was second with 1,908.33. Sul Ross State was eighth with 445 points.
The top three individuals in six men's events and three women's events from each of 11 regions qualify for the College National Finals Rodeo from June 15-21 in Casper, Wyo. The top two men's teams and top two women's teams from each region also qualify.
