Cross country: Permian, OHS run in Round Rock

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

The Odessa High and Permian girls and boys cross country teams will take part in their second consecutive high-level meet today at the McNeil Invitational at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock.

The course is the same that the UIL State Championships will be competed on in November. Both ECISD schools are coming off appearances last week at the Lubbock Invitational on the same Mae Simmons Park course where the District 2-5A and Region I-5A meet will be run later this season.

Permian's girls won the team title last week in Lubbock behind a fifth-place finish from Lakeisha Johnson and a sixth-place showing from Laura Porras. Odessa High's girls were sixth in the team standings, with Kirsten Taylor finishing ninth individually.

Odessa High's boys came in ninth at the Lubbock Invitational and Permian was 11th. Permian's David Hernandez was 12th for the top ECISD finish, while Odessa High's Edwar Zubiate was his team's top individual in 25th.
