Team tennis: Permian beats Cooper in nondistrict dual; OHS falls at Midland Lee
BIG SPRING Permian took a break from District 2-5A action Tuesday for a 10-9 victory against Abilene Cooper in a nondistrict team tennis dual match at the Figure Seven Tennis Center.
Austin Hunt, a freshman, won the deciding match for Permian at the No. 5 boys singles position. Doug Lasater won at No. 1 boys singles, while the No. 3 boys doubles team of Nick Webster and Zack Webster also picked up a win.
Permian's girls got undefeated days from Charlotte Dawson, Tai Lucero, Lauren Bolinger and Carrie Lasater, with Elizabeth Espinoza picking up a victory in girls singles.
Permian returns to District 2-5A duals Saturday at Lubbock Coronado and Lubbock High.

Odessa High's top two boys players - No. 1 Justin Hernandez and No. 2 Cedric Smith - won their singles matches, but the Bronchos dropped the team match at Midland Lee 13-6 on Thursday.
Hernandez defeated Doug Zeltman, 6-4, 6-3, and Smith beat Kyle Clark, 6-1, 7-6.
Midland Lee swept the boys doubles and girls doubles matches.
Hernandez and Annie Lewis won in mixed doubles for OHS 6-0, 6-2.
