NORTH AMERICAN HOCKEY LEAGUE: Jacks escape with win
RIO RANCHO, N.M. Lawrence Cornellier and Taylor Portner each scored extra-attacker goals in the final two minutes to tie the game and then Josh Obregon scored on the power play 59 seconds into overtime to lift the Odessa Jackalopes to a 5-4 victory over the New Mexico Mustangs Friday night at the Santa Ana Star Center.
The Jackalopes (17-22-5) twice came back from two-goal deficits to earn a key two points in the standings. They now trail Corpus Christi by four points (43-39) in the race for the fourth, and final, playoff spot in the North American Hockey League’s South Division.
