College basketball: Blackshear named to All-Tournament team

SAN ANTONIO Junior guard Miesha Blackshear has been named to the Heartland Conference All-Tournament team after leading the UTPB women’s basketball team to a victory over Texas A&M International in the first round of the tourney last weekend.

Blackshear, a transfer from Howard College who led the nation in steals last season, scored 17 points, grabbed 10 rebounds, handed out seven assists and made four steals in the Lady Falcons’ 79-68 first-round victory over the Aggies.

And even though UTPB fell 59-47 in its semifinal matchup against St. Mary’s, the eventual tournament champion, Blackshear pitched in nine points, four rebounds and five steals.
