Pro baseball: RockHounds extend win streak to 11
Comments 0 | Recommend 0MIDLAND Jon Zeringue's run-scoring single with two outs in the eighth broke a tie and helped the Midland RockHounds beat the Corpus Christi Hooks 4-3 in a Texas League baseball game at Citibank Ballpark on Monday night.
Midland extended its win streak to 11 consecutive games. The RockHounds are off today, and they begin a three-game series at North Division leader Northwest Arkansas on Wednesday.
Tommy Everidge had a sacrifice fly and Sean Doolittle had a run-scoring single in the eighth to get Midland even at 3-3.
Jed Morris reached on an error and scored on Myron Leslie's double to get Midland within 2-1 in the fifth.
Midland reliever Steven Sharpe (1-0) struck out two in two hitless innings, while Andrew Carignan struck out one and retired the side in order in the ninth for his 19th save.
