Pro baseball: RockHounds make it 10 in a row
Comments 0 | Recommend 0MIDLAND Sean Doolittle had a two-run double in the first inning that helped the Midland RockHounds beat the Corpus Christi Hooks 6-2 in a Texas League baseball game Sunday night at Citibank Ballpark.
Midland will try to extend a 10-game winning streak when the team concludes a brief four-game homsetand against Corpus Christi at 6:30 p.m. today at Citibank Ballpark.
Doolittle's double followed Tommy Everidge's ground-rule double that had given Midland a 1-0 lead in the first. The RockHounds scored a run in the third when Everidge grounded into a double play, and Everidge's run-scoring double in the fifth made it 5-0.
Frank Martinez hit a solo home run leading off the seventh for Midland.
Midland starter James Simmons (7-6) allowed two runs on seven hits in 6 1-3 innings, while reliever Jared Lansford allowed three hits in 2 2-3 scoreless innings for his second save.
