College Rodeo: Smith, Morales lead OC with second in team roping
Comments 0 | Recommend 0PORTALES, N.M. Colt Smith and Oscar Morales finished second in team roping to highlight the Odessa College rodeo team's performance at the College Daze Rodeo at Eastern New Mexico University during the weekend.
Smith and Morales finished eighth in the long go and second in the short go to help the OC men finish ninth in the 15-team field.
April Loyd was second in goal tying to help the OC women place fifth. Loyd was fifth in the long go and third in the short go.
Steer wrestler Seth Hall was sixth heading into the short go and finished sixth.
Hall paired up with Cole Jackson of Eastern New Mexico to win team roping. They won the short-go after entering the final in fifth after the long-go.
Derek Robinson recorded no score in the final of saddle-bronc riding after placing fourth in the long go, while Chad McNerlin broke a barrier in the tie-down roping final to finish seventh. McNerlin had qualified sixth.
Cinnamon Johnston was eighth in the long go in goat tying to reach the short go, but she record no time in the final.
Riki Jones was fourth in the average in breakaway roping. She was fourth in the long go.
Odessa College will compete in a rodeo at Weatherford College from Thursday through Saturday.
