CORPUS CHRISTI Ryan Doucet scored his second goal of the night with seven seconds remaining to lift the Odessa Jackalopes to a 5-4 victory over the Corpus Christi IceRays on Saturday at the AmericanBank Center.
Josh Obregon, Tyler Mink and Ryan Atkinson also scored for the Jackalopes, who improved to 19-24-5 and pulled within five points of the IceRays for fourth place in the NAHL’s South Division.
It was the second straight victory for Odessa over the IceRays, with the teams scheduled to meet again on March 2 and 3 at Ector County Coliseum.
Corpus Christi (22-23-4) opened a 2-0 lead after the first period on goals by Phil Pietroniro and Jonathan Grebosky.
The Jackalopes then scored the next three markers, taking a 3-2 lead just 2:59 into the third period on Minx’s goal from the point.
The teams then traded goals the rest of the third period, with Brandon Smith tying the game for Corpus Christi with a power-play goal just 1:34 before the final buzzer.
