COLLEGE CROSS COUNTRY: UTPB runs strong in San Antonio

The UTPB men’s and women’s cross country teams earned sixth and fourth place, respectively, in the Incarnate Word Cross Country Invitational on Saturday at Live Oak City Park.

Carlos Ahkothe paced the UTPB men with a time of 26 minutes, 39.2 seconds, good for second place in the men’s eight-kilometer race. Ahkothe finished 11 seconds behind leader Marcos Mora of Incarnate Word.

As a team, the Falcons finished sixth out of 12 teams with a score of 159.

In women’s competition, Kylie Bourquin led the Lady Falcons after running a time of 24:56.8 and finishing 27th in the six-kilometer race.

The Lady Falcons placed fourth out of 12 teams with 147 points.

The UTPB men’s and women’s cross country teams will train before they are scheduled to compete Oct. 20 in the Heartland Conference Championships in Wichita, Kan.
