After winning its first game of the season last week, the UTPB women’s soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Newman (Kan.) in a Heartland Conference contest Saturday at Falcon Field.

With the loss, the Lady Falcons (1-10 overall, 0-5 Heartland Conference) remain winless in conference play.

UTPB’s Tana Villela scored the first goal of the match off an assist from Nicole Leffingwell in the 38th minute.

The Lady Falcons went into halftime with the 1-0 advantage before Newman took control in the second half.

The Jets’ Blair Terry scored both goals — a penalty kick in the 61st minute and an unassisted shot from the top of the box 69th minute — to  cap her team’s comeback victory.

UTPB is scheduled to play at Texas A&M International at 5 p.m. on Oct. 13. The Dustdevils (7-3, 4-2) lost 4-2 to St. Edward’s on Saturday.
