COLLEGE RODEO: Wranglers' Laye in fourth at national finals

CASPER, WYO. Odessa College’s Clint Laye sits in fourth place in the bareback standings following Tuesday’s competition at the College National Finals Rodeo at the Casper Events Center.

Laye scored 66.5 points during the third go. Teammate Dustin Bowen will not complete his third go until a 7 p.m. performance on Friday. Bowen currently is 18th with one ride remaining.

Layne Norton, competing in tie down roping, recorded a time of 9.5 in his second go and is 19.1 on two head, good for 16th place with one calf remaining.

In team roping action, OC’s Tyler Rees and partner Trey Southern of Eastern New Mexico University sit 22nd at 36.2 seconds after posting a 28.9-second run in the second go.

The top 10 individuals advance to Saturday’s short-go round, where the 2012 champions will be crowned.
